With Marvel’s Deadpool VR releasing in just a few days on Quest 3 and 3S, I’ve been thinking back to my hands-on demo at Gamescom 2025 – which ended up being one of the funniest, sweatiest, and most chaotic VR experiences I’ve ever had. I wore a Deadpool-inspired cosplay for the demo, and it definitely amplified the energy.
Even before the combat kicks in, the humor lands immediately. The writing is sharp, chaotic, meta, and perfectly in character for the merc with a mouth. From the first lines of dialogue, the game makes it clear: this is a Deadpool VR experience that actually feels like Deadpool – not just a skin on top of a generic game.
What really impressed me, though, was the combat. Twisted Pixel nailed the blend of fast-paced melee and over-the-top superhero action. You can grab katanas from your back, dual-wield pistols, yank enemies toward you with a grappling hook, or drop-kick them off ledges mid-quip. Everything flows together smoothly and makes you feel absurdly powerful. It’s one of the most satisfying VR combat systems I’ve used in a long time.

The game also surprised me by being a legit workout. The demo’s combat encounters are nonstop movement – dodging, slicing, reaching, spinning, blocking- and the pace stays high the entire time. I walked out of the booth extremely sweaty! If you like VR fitness, Deadpool VR unintentionally has you covered.
Visually, the cel-shaded art style is a perfect match for the character and the Quest 3 hardware. It’s clean, expressive, and makes the whole experience feel like stepping directly into a comic book. Even in a short demo, the performance felt smooth despite how chaotic the action gets.
After getting a taste of it months early at Gamescom, I’m even more excited to play the full release next week. Marvel’s Deadpool VR blends humor, style, and frantic action into something that feels genuinely fresh in VR. If the full campaign keeps up the momentum from the demo, this could easily become one of the standout VR titles of the year.
Marvel’s Deadpool VR launches November 18 on Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
